Pre-Diabetes
The Warning Stage Before Type 2 Diabetes
Pre-diabetes means your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes—typically a fasting glucose of 5.6-6.9 mmol/L or HbA1c of 5.7-6.4%. It's a clear warning sign that your body is struggling with insulin resistance. Without changes, about 70% of people with pre-diabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years. The good news? Pre-diabetes is highly reversible. Reducing carbohydrates, losing weight (especially around the abdomen), and increasing physical activity can restore normal blood sugar levels and reverse the progression. Many doctors don't take pre-diabetes seriously enough, but this is your best opportunity to prevent full diabetes and its complications.
